Continuous box dryers; Drying seed in boxes with seperated regulation With the continuous box dryer every box containing seed is dried individually. Using this method the boxes can be placed in and removed from the dryer independently. The drying of the seed can therefore start the moment the box is filled. The desired drying can be programmed for each individual box. The drying of the seed will stop at the moment the desired moisture content is reached.

This principle is ideal for drying seed after a washing treatment and priming. It is also ideal for drying large amounts of seed with minimum coating or film coating and for seed pills.

Definition: The boxes with seed are placed in a steel construction. The construction is placed in front of an air distribution system with blow out vent. These vents connect to the ventilation pallet of the boxes. The vents are provided with a sliding door which has a servomotor to open automatically when the box is placed. When the box is placed an RH sensor is also automatically placed above the box. This way the RH of every box is measured and controlled till the desired value is reached. The desired RH corresponds with the value of the balance moisture content of the seed.

Operation: When the box is placed, the sliding door of the vent is opened to the max. Dry air is pushed trough the seed. This continues until the desired RH is reached. When the desired RH of the outgoing air is reached the sliding door starts to close automatically. The closing of the sliding door goes proportional so that the RH stays at the desired value. When the sliding door is closed completely (or reached its minimum position) the seed is dry. A signalling light will turn on when this happens. When the box is taken away, the light will turn off.

The drying will continue as long as there are boxes in the construction. Drying ends per box by the closing of the sliding door. Seed left in front of the dryer for a longer period (at night or weekend) will automatically be dried periodically.
